Michael W. Gottlieb
Michael is a New York City-based creative director and founder of MAXOÖN a design practice originally launched as a woodworking studio in Bushwick. With a clean, minimal aesthetic, he now focuses on graphic design and interiors.
Before launching MAXOÖN in 2012 (a registered trademark), Michael spent two decades in magazine publishing, holding senior art direction roles at Sports Illustrated, This Old House, Men's Fitness, and others. He began his career at Country Living and Good Housekeeping.
Michael holds a BBA in Marketing from Baruch College, completed leadership training at NYU, and studied at the School of Visual Arts, Parsons School of Design and the University of Buffalo. An honors graduate of the High School of Art and Design, he is a lifelong New Yorker—born in the Bronx, raised in Queens and resides in the city.
When not obsessing over precision, details and color, he enjoys travel, photography, architecture, interiors, cycling, skiing, coffee and his little Havanese Buddy.
